So far the rich countries reaped the benefits from the vaccine. In this country, untold miseries and human tragedies are unfolding with daily cases still soaring above 50000 in a deadly surge of the second wave of the virus. The yesterday's figure was 62,224. There's a tremendous shortage of vaccines. India depended on two local manufacturers, Bharat Biotech and Serum Institute of India which are manufacturing Covaxin and Covishield respectively. India has several capable pharmaceutical companies. Why not the the government insist the present two manufacturers to share their formula to other potential manufacturers to scale up the production on a war footing measure ahead of the third wave ? The original two manufacturers may be offered royalties in return, from the profit of the formula users.
