America continues with its shooting spree.
----------------
The fourth shooting this month took place yesterday, in the capital, Washington DC. A few days ago, a Google search revealed that on an average 45,000 to 50,000 people a year are killed in the United States by gunmen alone. Gun violence seems to have taken an institutional form in that country. Maybe it has become an unwritten Constitutional right for its citizen. I really don't know. In most cases, women and children are the common people, because they are soft targets.
In India, rather I'd prefer to tell that living in West Bengal, the familiarity with the word 'tolabaji' meaning cut money or commission in terms of liquid cash collected by local goons for giving contract of govt. projects to contractors, has become so prevalent that people have taken it for granted. Every political party in India, the form of 'tolabaji' is of different shade. The present ruling dispensation in my state is doing the business in public without any shame or fear or even social boycott. Other parties are keeping a low profile. However, I intend to write a full article on these issues in due time. Let's talk about the "civilized country" the United States of America. To this day, America has not been able to control the gunmen under any president. America's tolabaji is controlled by its GUN LOBBY. The main reason for this is that many, in the US Congress are arms dealers and they contribute large sums of money to the President's party (whether Republican or Democrat, whatsoever). And the arms trade is a huge source of income for the American economy. Incidentally, five years ago, at the very beginning of Trump's reign, a young Indian man named Srinivas Kuchibotla was eating at a restaurant with his wife and friend in a town called Olathe. A retired U.S. Navy man entered the restaurant, reached Srinivasa's table and hurled racial slurs finally saying, "Get out of my country." Without giving him any opportunity to defend he brutally killed Srinivasa spraying from top to toe from point-blank range. In the same month four other Indians were killed in different parts of America. Sadly, I don't know if any Indian-American (I am a fairly well read individual) at least sympathetically protested and joined any rally saying, "This is our country too." Because they are immigrants, the hyphenated Americans, the so-called "American citizens and Green card holders". More sadly, Srinivasa's wife decided to stay in the same country with her only child. Evil people like me say, "What a glory of the dollar." The incident was so touching that even today, five years later, I still have scars on my mind.
To me America is a very uncivilized country. That country is solely responsible for the unrest of the entire world. They have been provoking violence all over the world, carrying on billions of dollars worth of arms exports for decades, the most recent addition being the Ukraine-Russia war zone.
The Cold War ended with the collapse of the Soviet Union under Gorbachev, and the United States, with its cheerleaders (read NATO member countries), gradually spread its wings eastward, almost to the doorstep of the present-day Russia. The number of NATO members has increased from 12 to 30 now. Dictatorship is ingrained in the gene of so called "democratic" America. The Ukraine war has been raging for more than three months, with no signs of abating. I have analyzed the entire Russo-Ukraine war in my way. Data gathering is still going on, on the geo-political situation and I've reserved it for the future to write on it. I have been listening to interviews of some wise people (mostly psephologists) on BBC world news channel. Besides, there are local newspapers and of course Google.
