Israeli based company NSO developed the SPYWARE, Pegasus, has already taken the center stage since the commencement of the Parliament monsoon session. The issue has sent many ripples across the political spectrum. The Indian Parl could function only 18 hrs out of scheduled 107 hours causing a loss of Rs. 133 crore to the exchequer which is again taxpayers' money. The opposition MPs of both the houses said, they won't let the normal proceedings go until there's a full-fledged debate on the Pegasus issue mainly, along with the issue of the impending farm laws. Is it not expected in a Parliamentary democracy ?
A certain level of decorum is expected from the opposition party leaders too. What goes on in the name of protest is like a street fight between the rival groups on the Parliament floor ignoring the honourable Mr. Speaker.
As an apolitical common Indian citizen a simple solution comes in mind. Why not both honourable PM and honourable Home Minister attend the Parliament session once to clear the air by just explaining that the country is not in possession of the snooping Spyware Pegasus. Because, as I understand the deal of purchase of this expensive package (~$10 million besides a lump sum as the installation cost) can only take place between two governments for obvious reasons. Also I understand that each installation caters only to 10 devices. The opposition claims that 300 devices have so far been hacked. Just calculate the volume of expenditure incurred in the deal !
