মি. ট্রাম্পের জয় উল্লেখযোগ্য কিছু নয়। এটি আগামী বছরগুলিতে রাজনৈতিক দৃশ্যপটকে নতুন করে রূপ দিতে পারে এবং মার্কিন পররাষ্ট্রনীতির উপর এর উল্লেখযোগ্য প্রভাব পড়বে। দ্বিতীয় মেয়াদে ট্রাম্পের "আমেরিকা ফার্স্ট" অবস্থান আরও শক্তিশালী হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে। মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে যা কিছু ঘটবে তার প্রভাব সারা বিশ্বে আলোড়ন তুলবে। ট্রাম্প সাহেবের দ্বিতীয় মেয়াদে ক্রমবর্ধমান মার্কিন-চীন উত্তেজনার পাশাপাশি গভীর সুরক্ষাবাদে ভরপুর। এমন পরিস্থিতিতে ভারতের পক্ষে ভূ-রাজনৈতিক কৌশল বজায় রেখে ভারসাম্যমূলক কাজটা বেশ কঠিন, বিশেষত যখন একদিকে ওয়াশিংটনের শুল্কের খাঁড়া এবং একই সঙ্গে উদ্যত মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের সাথে বাণিজ্য সম্পর্ক আরও গভীর করা।

ট্রাম্প প্রশাসনের  "আমেরিকা ফার্স্ট" পদক্ষেপ, ইউএসএআইডি ভেঙে দেওয়া এবং ডব্লিউএইচও, আইএমও এবং প্যারিস চুক্তি থেকে বেরিয়ে আসায়  রাজনৈতিক বিশ্লেষকরা  রীতিমত উদ্বেগ প্রকাশ করেছেন যে মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্র তার প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বীদের কাছে বিশ্বব্যাপী প্রভাব ছেড়ে দিচ্ছে। এ সব তত্ত্ব উদাঘাটন করার মতো সন্ধানী আলো আমার চোখে নেই। তবে ইতিহাস বলছে যে মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্র একটি নির্ভরযোগ্য মিত্র দেশ নয় কারণ এই দেশটির নৈতিক অধঃপতন এতটাই হয়েছে, বিশেষ করে ডোনাল্ড ট্রাম্পের আমলে যে যখন খুশি তারা বন্ধু দেশকে প্রত্যাখ্যান করে। ইউক্রেনের সাম্প্রতিক ঘটনাবলি এর একটি জ্বলন্ত উদাহরণ। এর আগে তারা কানাডা এবং মেক্সিকোকে ত্যাগ করেছিল। এক দশক আগে মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্র,  আফগানিস্তান এবং পাকিস্তান যারা তার এক সময়ের পরম মিত্র দেশ বলে পরিচিত ছিল, তাদের সঙ্গেও বিশ্বাসঘাতকতা করেছিল। ভারতকে বিশ্বস্ত মিত্র হিসেবে বিবেচনা করার আগে মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের রাজনৈতিক ইতিহাস স্মরণ করতে হবে।

Donald Trump's victory is nothing short of remarkable. It can reshape the political landscape for years to come, and will have significant implications for US foreign policy. His "America First" stance is likely to be strengthened in the second term. The world will not remain untouched to whatever unfolds in th US. As Mr Trump's second term is loaded with deep protectionism alongside growing US-China tensions. India has a tough balancing task at hand - deepening trade ties with the US while tackling tariffs and geopolitical alignments.

 Analysts argue that the Trump administration's "America First" moves, and the dismantling of USAID, and the exits from WHO, IMO and Paris agreement have raised concerns that the US is ceding global influence to its rivals. History reveals that US is not a reliable ally as it abandons its partners whenever it wishes. Recent developments in Ukraine are a case in point. Earlier it had ditched Canada and Mexico. The US also betrayed Afghanistan and Pakistan, who were its allies a decade ago. India must recall the political history of the US before considering it as a trusted ally
